The SSE Prefabricated PREFoam EPS Geofoam Stadium Seating Riser System is the result of an innovative use of Geofoam, a material that has been used as structural fill material in construction for more than forty years. Our unique application of EPS Geofoam produces an environmentally and acoustically friendly
prefabricated stadium seating solution.

EPS Geofoam has a very high strength to density ratio and is extremely lightweight at approximately 1 pound per cubic foot.

Unlike other materials, EPS Geofoam can easily be molded or cut in an arc or other custom shape depending upon the owner’s preference. EPS Geofoam is also easily cut into a tapered shape to be used throughout the building for ramps and landings. This is the easiest and most cost effective method of constructing ramps and landings available.

Easily installed by the general contractor, the PREFoam EPS Geofoam fill is brought into the auditorium in precut blocks and attached to the existing floor and subsequent layers by means of a non-solvent based adhesive. Subsequently the 12 or 16 gauge prefabricated steel riser plates, intermediate steps forms and connecting hardware are installed prior to pouring the concrete platform.

The SSE PREFoam EPS Geofoam Prefabricated Stadium Seating Riser System is the most straightforward and cost effective solution for stadium seating / riser platform systems in the stadium seating industry.

PREFoam Prefabricated EPS Geofoam Stadium Seating Platforms can be installed and ready for concrete and finishes by the general contractor in as little as 1- 2 days per section or auditorium.

PREFoam
Stadium Seating Systems
SSE offers two
different PREFoam EPS Geofoam prefabricated
Stadium Seating Riser Systems depending on the
seismic requirements of the project and the
specific requirements of the design architect.
The standard system is designed to provide a
one-hour rated assembly with the addition of
cement board between the riser face and the
EPS Geofoam. In addition SSE offers a PREFoam
prefabricated seating system can be designed
with 4" of vertical concrete between the EPS
Geofoam and the prefabricated riser plate to
accommodate structural reinforcement or riser
mounted seat brackets. Regardless of which
variation is chosen, of the PREFoam stadium
seating system is chosen, SSE’s customers
select the PREFoam Systems due to their
unprecedented Economy, Flexibility and Speed /
Ease of Installation.

The PREFoam EPS
Geofoam blocks are installed into the
auditoriums after all of the walls are
constructed and the high work on the
ceilings has been completed. Each of the
blocks come pre-numbered from the
manufacturer corresponding to the Shop
Drawings provided by SSE. The standard EPS
Geofoam blocks are trimmed to fit the
platform width with a hot wire kit
provided by SSE, assembled according to
the drawings and secured by means of a
non-solvent based adhesive provided by the
installing contractor.
|

 |

Once the EPS Geofoam
blocks are in place and secured, the
prefabricated 12 or 16 gauge steel riser
plate is put into position. Like the EPS
Geofoam blocks, each of the prefabricated
steel components comes pre-numbered from
the manufacturer corresponding to the SSE
Shop Drawings. |

The final
step in the installation of the SSE
PREFoam EPS Geofoam Prefabricated Stadium
Seating Riser System prior to pouring the
concrete topping slab is the attachment of
the connecting hardware and intermediate
step forms. Each of the system
intermediate step forms, connector plates
and connecting hardware is secured to the
riser plate by means of self-tapping
screws. This final attachment procedure
secures each row of prefabricated riser
plates to the walls and other levels of
riser plates assuring a straight and
strong assembly in preparation for pouring
the concrete topping slab.
|

 |

Once the EPS
Geofoam and prefabricated steel stadium
and auditorium seating components are
secured the concrete subcontractor will
pump the concrete topping slab over the
EPS Geofoam block and prefabricated steel
riser plates as well as into the
intermediate step forms in one continuous
pour.. The prefabricated steel riser
plates serve as a screed for the concrete
pour. Once the concrete pour is complete
and it has cured to a sufficient degree,
the steel riser plate and step forms will
be painted by the installing contractor
prior to the installation of the seating.

This photo
shows the complete installation of our
PREFoam prefabricated stadium seating
system including the seats, lighting,
handrails and acoustic panels. This series
of photos shows an installation using
floor mounted seats. The SSE PREFoam EPS
Geofoam prefabricated Stadium Seating
Riser System can also be used with riser
mounted seats, however, heavier 12 gauge
steel is used and typically the
prefabricated riser plate is held away
from the EPS Geofoam by 4" to accommodate
the installation of a seat bracket encased
in a vertical 4" concrete pour. This
system is described above and also
provides a solution compatible with
seismic zone 4 criteria.
